The WAEC and NECO Grade Calculator helps West African students calculate their aggregate scores and determine university admission eligibility. Enter your subject grades and the tool computes your total score using the official grading system. It highlights whether you meet the minimum requirements for popular Nigerian universities and courses, saving you hours of manual calculation and cross-referencing. The calculator covers all WAEC and NECO subjects and accounts for the specific credit requirements of different degree programmes. Students, parents, and school counsellors preparing for UTME and direct entry admissions will find this tool essential during the application season.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is WAEC aggregate calculated?
WAEC aggregate is the sum of your best 5 subject grade points. Each grade has a point: A1=1, B2=2, B3=3, C4=4, C5=5, C6=6, D7=7, E8=8, F9=9. The best possible aggregate is 5 (five A1s), and the worst is 45 (five F9s).
What is the difference between WAEC and NECO?
Both are Nigerian secondary school exams using the same A1–F9 grading. WAEC (WASSCE) is international across Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and The Gambia. NECO is Nigeria-only. Both are accepted for university admission.
How do I calculate my Ghana WASSCE aggregate?
Ghana WASSCE uses best 6 subjects: 3 core (English, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies) + 3 best electives. Add the grade points together. Aggregate of 24 or below qualifies for most universities.
What JAMB score do I need for UNILAG?
UNILAG's general cut-off is around 200, but competitive courses like Medicine, Law, and Engineering require 250+. The actual cut-off varies by course and year.
Can I use NECO results for university admission?
Yes, all Nigerian universities accept NECO results. You can also combine WAEC and NECO results (using the best grades from either) for a maximum of two sittings.
What subjects do I need for Medicine in Nigeria?
Medicine requires 5 O-Level credits (minimum C6) in: English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. JAMB subjects are English, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
How does Kenya KCSE grading work?
KCSE uses 12 grades: A (12 points) down to E (1 point). The mean grade is calculated from your best 7 subjects. University admission typically requires C+ minimum for degree programs.
What is an APS score in South Africa?
APS (Admission Point Score) is the sum of your best 6 NSC/Matric subject levels (excluding Life Orientation). Levels range from 1–7, so APS ranges from 6–42. Bachelor programs typically need 25+.
Do universities accept D7 and E8 grades?
D7 and E8 are pass grades, not credits. Most universities require a minimum of C6 (credit) in relevant subjects. D7/E8 may count toward your aggregate but not as credits for admission.
How do I convert O-Level grades to GPA?
Use the GPA Converter tab. Generally: A1 maps to 4.0/5.0 (First Class), B2-B3 to 3.0-3.5 (Upper Second), C4-C6 to 2.0-2.5 (Lower Second), D7 to 1.0 (Pass), F9 to 0 (Fail).
