How to verify a teacher salary offer

For a public post, match the contract’s exact grade, notch or post level to a current circular or collective agreement and confirm its effective date. For a private, nonprofit or international school, the written contract is the salary source: an education-ministry or public-service scale does not automatically apply.

This calculator uses only the amounts you enter. “Estimated take-home” subtracts known deductions; it does not calculate tax or pension law. Effective hourly cash divides annual recurring cash by your entered working hours and weeks, so it changes when unpaid preparation or marking time is included.

Frequently asked questions

Why were the country salary ranges removed?

The previous bands did not identify a grade-specific official record and effective date for every value. Because salary scales change and private-school pay varies by employer, presenting those bands as a lookup created false certainty.

Does the official link validate my offer?

No. It is the relevant authority starting point. You still need the current circular, agreement or payroll scale matching your grade, location and appointment date.

Is the result a tax calculation?

No. Enter deductions from a payslip or employer estimate. Use the relevant AfroTools salary-tax tool or a qualified adviser for tax-specific work.
