Savings and planning guidance

  • Calculate once you have a fabric quote and tailor quote.
  • Keep a separate buffer for fitting, transport and last-minute accessories.

Methodology and assumptions

  1. Fabric subtotal equals quantity times fabric per outfit times fabric cost per yard or metre.
  2. Tailoring subtotal equals quantity times tailoring cost, adjusted by the selected complexity percentage.
  3. Embroidery, beadwork, accessories and alterations are treated as per-outfit or per-person line items.
  4. Rush fee is applied to the subtotal before deposit because urgent work can affect fabric sourcing, labor scheduling and delivery.
  5. Deposit, balance and weekly savings estimate show how much must be reserved before the event date.

Regional cost notes

  • Market-tailor budgets can be lower, but allow time for fittings and quality checks.
  • Major-city boutique tailors often charge more for structured cuts, lining, finishing, pickup and consultation time.
  • Premium ceremonial work can rise sharply when fabric is rare, embroidery is dense, or matching family outfits must be coordinated.
  • Diaspora orders should include courier, measurement risk, remote alteration and currency conversion buffers.
