How is KCSE mean grade calculated?
The KCSE mean grade is calculated by averaging the points of your best 7 subjects out of 8. Grade points: A=12, A-=11, B+=10, B=9, B-=8, C+=7, C=6, C-=5, D+=4, D=3, D-=2, E=1. The mean is divided by 7 and mapped to a letter grade.
What KCSE grade is needed for university in Kenya?
Most public university degree programmes require a minimum mean grade of C+ (plus). Competitive programmes like Medicine, Law and Engineering require B+ or above. KUCCPS places students based on course cut-off points which vary each year based on competition.
What are the KCSE grade boundaries?
KCSE grades: A (mean 11.5–12), A- (10.5–11.49), B+ (9.5–10.49), B (8.5–9.49), B- (7.5–8.49), C+ (6.5–7.49), C (5.5–6.49), C- (4.5–5.49), D+ (3.5–4.49), D (2.5–3.49), D- (1.5–2.49), E (1–1.49).
How many subjects are in KCSE?
KCSE candidates sit a minimum of 7 subjects. Core compulsory subjects include English, Kiswahili and Mathematics. Sciences, humanities and technical subjects complete the combination. The mean grade is calculated from the best 7 subjects.
What is a good KCSE grade in Kenya?
