How the EV and petrol cost comparison is reconciled
The ledger applies the selected market's dated residential electricity tariff and petrol-price default to 17 kWh/100km for the EV and 8 litres/100km for the petrol vehicle. It calculates each daily cost first, then uses exactly 30 driving days for the monthly view and 365 driving days for the annual view.
Planning boundary: defaults come from the AfroTools country-energy dataset dated March 2026 and are not live quotes. Actual costs vary by vehicle efficiency, charging loss, public-charger fee, time-of-use plan, fuel price, traffic, weather, payload, and driving style.
