YouTube announced a new set of creator tools at Made On YouTube on September 23, 2026. The official overview highlights a conversational AI editing partner for Shorts, expanded feedback in YouTube Studio, resources for brand partnerships and broader likeness protection.
In Studio, YouTube says new Insights and Research destinations will help creators examine past performance and find unusual videos that could inform their next idea. A feedback feature is designed to advise on pacing, structure and storytelling. The company also announced channel-matched and dynamic thumbnail options, plus a forthcoming test that compares up to three video cuts.
YouTube is also integrating Gemini into a conversational editing assistant for Shorts and the YouTube Create app. The announced workflow can make a first draft from a prompt, then help reorder frames, trim clips and sync music while leaving creators able to edit the timeline manually.
On protection and moderation, YouTube says it is testing opt-in AI comment moderation and plans to combine speaking-voice detection with facial likeness detection later in 2026. It also plans to make likeness controls available in the YouTube mobile app.
For African creators, the important limitation is availability. The official announcement does not provide a country-by-country African rollout schedule, so creators should check their own Studio or Create account before planning production around any new feature.
