X sets a September transition
X's current help page says it stopped accepting new Creator Revenue Sharing enrolments on August 7, 2026 and will retire that programme on September 7. Existing participants can continue earning through September 7, with two scheduled payouts on August 14 and August 28 and a final payout for eligible earnings expected around September 11.
Starting September 8, X says it will begin rolling out access for existing Revenue Sharing members to apply for Original Content Rewards. Creators can check their status in Creator Studio. The published timetable does not promise that every existing member will qualify for the replacement.
What changes for creators
X's Premium page describes Original Content Rewards as available globally to creators who meet the requirements. It says payouts are calculated from qualified impressions by Premium users. The programme is tied to eligible Premium tiers rather than Basic.
The Original Content Rewards terms, effective August 7, require a supported country, an account in good standing, an eligible Premium subscription and continued compliance with the Help Center rules. Identity verification is required before payout. X also says it may change or cancel the programme.
Africa eligibility needs a country check
African creators should not read the word global as automatic access in every market. X's terms still require a supported country and payment route. Check Creator Studio and the current country list before paying for a subscription or planning income around the programme.
The official pages do not guarantee acceptance, a payout amount or a stable future formula. Existing creators should preserve their payout records and review the new terms before applying. New applicants should rely on the live eligibility screen rather than copied thresholds or screenshots.
