TIN Registration in Zambia — Complete Guide

The TPIN (Taxpayer Identification Number) is issued by the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) in Zambia. Registration is free and typically takes Instant (online) to 3 days. Zambia offers online TIN registration through the ZRA portal, making the process accessible from anywhere. The TIN is governed by the Tax Administration Act 2014 (as amended); Income Tax Act (Cap 323); ZRA Act (Cap 321) and administered by the Ministry of Finance and National Planning.

All businesses operating in Zambia and individuals in formal employment are required to register for a TPIN. The TPIN is a 10-digit numeric identifier needed for tax filing, business bank accounts, government contracts, and customs clearance. Failure to register carries penalties: zMW 15,000 penalty.
