The NIU (Numéro d'Identifiant Unique) is issued by the Direction Générale des Impôts (DGI) in Cameroon. Registration is free and typically takes Instant online; 3-5 days in person. The TIN is governed by the Code Général des Impôts du Cameroun; Loi de Finances annuelle and administered by the Ministère des Finances.
All businesses operating in Cameroon and individuals in formal employment are required to register for a NIU. The NIU is a 14-character alphanumeric (e.g., M012345678901A) identifier needed for tax filing, business bank accounts, government contracts, and customs clearance. Failure to register carries penalties: fine of XAF 100,000 to XAF 1,000,000.
