Food variety and safety worksheet
Pregnancy food variety planner
Select the broad food groups you expect to have available. The planner turns them into a discussion card, not a calorie target, meal prescription or judgement of whether a pregnancy diet is adequate.
Individual needs belong with maternity and dietetic care
Do not use this worksheet to manage diabetes, high blood pressure, anaemia, severe vomiting, kidney or liver disease, food allergy, an eating disorder, undernutrition, multiple pregnancy or another complication. A maternity clinician or qualified dietitian should individualize food, weight and supplement advice.

Bring context, not a score
This list does not say whether intake is sufficient or excessive. If food access, nausea, symptoms, weight change or a medical condition affects eating, tell the maternity team.

Use the worksheet safely
Why is there no calorie or protein target?
Body size, stage of pregnancy, activity, symptoms, food access and health conditions change individual needs. A generic web calculation could create false precision and is not an antenatal nutrition assessment.
Does an unselected group mean my diet is deficient?
No. One checkbox list cannot measure quantity, absorption, preparation, substitutions, fortified foods or a longer eating pattern. It only prepares questions.
Can this manage a pregnancy complication?
No. Complications and significant symptoms need individualized maternity and dietetic care. The tool does not prescribe around them.
