Inventory management is a constant challenge for African small businesses. Whether you run a provision store in Lagos, a duka in Nairobi, a container shop in Accra, or a spaza shop in Johannesburg, knowing exactly what's in stock — and what's running low — is essential for maintaining sales and managing cash flow.
This inventory tracker stores all data locally in your browser using localStorage. There's no account to create, no monthly subscription, and no internet required after the initial page load. Your product data stays private on your device. This is perfect for market traders and shop owners who may have inconsistent internet connectivity.
Set minimum stock levels for each product and instantly see which items need restocking. The dashboard highlights products below their minimum threshold, helping you place orders before you run out. This prevents lost sales from stockouts — one of the biggest revenue killers for small retailers.
The dashboard shows your total inventory value based on cost price and potential revenue based on selling prices. This gives you a clear picture of the capital tied up in stock and the potential profit if everything sells. Use the export feature to download your inventory as a CSV file for record-keeping or for sharing with your accountant.
All data is stored locally in your browser's localStorage. It persists across sessions but is tied to this browser on this device. If you clear your browser data, the inventory will be reset. Use the Export CSV feature regularly to back up your data.
There's no hard limit, but performance is best with up to 500 products. For most small businesses, this is more than sufficient. If you need to track more, consider a dedicated inventory management app.
Currently, products must be added one at a time through the interface. We're considering adding CSV import in a future update. For now, use the Add Product button to enter each item.
Yes, this tool is designed for small retail businesses: provision stores, phone accessory shops, cosmetics stores, hardware shops, etc. For businesses with complex needs like multiple locations, barcode scanning, or employee access control, consider a dedicated POS system.
