AfroScore source of truth

How AfroScore is calculated

AfroScore is a 0 to 100 creator reach score. It is not only follower count. It balances public audience size, view footprint, growth, consistency, engagement, and platform presence so emerging streamers are not buried under celebrity-scale accounts.

25%

Total followers

Log-scaled cross-platform reach. A large audience matters, but scale is compressed so extreme celebrity accounts do not dominate every comparison.

20%

Total views

Log-scaled view footprint, currently using available public view totals such as YouTube channel views where available.

20%

Growth

Week-over-week follower movement from daily snapshots. Fast-growing creators gain signal even before they reach the largest audience tier.

15%

Consistency

Stream activity in the last 30 days. Regular streaming is rewarded separately from passive audience size.

10%

Engagement

Views per follower, log-scaled. This helps surface creators whose audiences actually watch and interact.

10%

Platform presence

Creators with credible presence across multiple platforms get a resilience bonus, capped so link-stuffing does not win alone.

Current formula

The production scoring job computes component scores from normalized data, then combines them with these public weights.

AfroScore = followers * 0.25 + views * 0.20 + growth * 0.20 + consistency * 0.15 + engagement * 0.10 + platformPresence * 0.10
  • Follower component: log-scaled toward a 200 million follower ceiling.
  • View component: log-scaled toward a 10 billion view ceiling.
  • Growth component: based on week-over-week follower change, with guardrails for extreme swings.
  • Consistency component: 10 qualifying streams in 30 days maps to the full consistency component.
  • Engagement component: views per follower, log-scaled toward a high-engagement reference point.
  • Platform component: four or more credible platforms can earn the full platform-presence component.

Tier bands

  • Legend: 80 to 100
  • Elite: 60 to 79
  • Established: 40 to 59
  • Trending: 20 to 39
  • Rising: 0 to 19

Why not keep AfroScore obscure?

Trust beats mystery. Creators should know the broad rules of the leaderboard they are being ranked by. AfroStream publishes the weight model and data categories, but keeps source reliability tuning, anomaly thresholds, and manual-review triggers private to prevent gaming.
