Privacy Policy

AfroTools collects only what is necessary to operate the platform. We follow a strict minimal data policy — we never collect data we don't need.

• Email address — only when you voluntarily subscribe to updates or request a PDF report. We never require an account to use any tool.
• Usage data — anonymised page views via Google Analytics (no personal identifiers linked to browsing behaviour).
• Calculator inputs — salary and tax inputs are processed entirely in your browser using JavaScript. We do not store or transmit your financial data to our servers.
• Contact form submissions — when you use the contact form, your name, email, and message are stored securely by Netlify Forms for the purpose of replying to you.

If you submit your email address, we use it only for the specific purpose you agreed to:

• Sending notifications when new tools launch for your country
• Alerting you when tax law changes affect a calculator you've used
• Delivering PDF reports you've requested to be sent by email

We do not sell, rent, or share your email with any third parties. Ever.

AfroTools uses no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking cookies that identify individual users. We use only:

• Analytics cookies — via Google Analytics to collect anonymous page view data (country, device type, page visited). No personal identifiers are linked.
• Functional cookies — small browser storage values used to remember your calculator preferences within a single session. These are not transmitted to any server.

This is our strongest privacy commitment: all calculations happen locally in your browser using JavaScript.

Your salary figures, tax inputs, health data, and results are never sent to our servers. When you download a PDF report, it is generated entirely in your browser and saved directly to your device — no data passes through our servers.

• Netlify — we host AfroTools on Netlify. Netlify processes form submissions and may log basic request metadata. Netlify Privacy Policy →
• Anthropic Claude API — the AI Advisor features send your anonymised calculation summary (not your name, email, or personal identifiers) to Anthropic's API to generate advice. Anthropic Privacy Policy →
• Google Analytics — anonymised usage statistics. No cross-site tracking enabled. Google Privacy Policy →
• Google Fonts — typography is loaded from Google's CDN. Google may log the request IP address. Google Privacy Policy →

Email addresses submitted via the newsletter subscription form are retained until you unsubscribe. Contact form submissions are retained for 90 days and then deleted automatically.

You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing hello@afrotools.com. We will confirm deletion within 7 days.

Under applicable data protection law, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate personal data
• Deletion — request that we delete your personal data
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection — object to processing of your personal data

We may update this policy as AfroTools grows and adds new features. Material changes — such as collecting new types of data or sharing data with new third parties — will be noted prominently at the top of this page with an updated date.

Continued use of AfroTools after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
