Cookie Policy

What this covers

This Cookie Policy explains the cookies, browser local storage, and analytics identifiers AfroTools uses, and how you can change your choices. It supplements our Privacy Policy. "Cookies" below also refers to similar technologies such as localStorage, sessionStorage, and analytics pixels.

AfroTools does not enable advertising cookies in its intended configuration. We group storage into strictly necessary / functional (always on) and analytics storage (only after you consent). On measured public pages, the Google tag can send limited cookieless consent-state and page-measurement pings while analytics storage is denied.

1. Strictly necessary & functional

These are required for the site to work or to remember your own preferences. They stay on your device and are not shared for analytics or advertising.

Name / keyTypePurposeRetention
Cookie-consent choicelocalStorageRemembers whether you accepted or rejected analytics so we don't ask againUntil you clear site data

Supabase session tokenlocalStorage / cookieKeeps you signed in to an AfroTools account (only if you log in)Cleared on logout / expiry
AI content consentlocalStorageRecords that you agreed to send content to optional AI assistUntil you clear site data

2. Analytics storage (consent required)

Analytics cookies and persistent analytics identifiers are set only after you accept analytics in the banner. Google Analytics 4 loads in denied-by-default Consent Mode and may receive limited cookieless page-measurement pings before a choice or after rejection. Product events remain opt-in, page URLs exclude query strings, advertising permissions remain denied, and Microsoft Clarity remains unloaded until you accept. Provider request metadata such as IP address and user agent can still exist.

See these providers' policies: Google, Microsoft, Meta.

3. Third-party service requests

Some features load resources from third parties that may receive your IP address and request metadata when the feature is used. These are described in Section 06 of the Privacy Policy and include Google Fonts, Supabase (accounts), Paystack/Stripe (checkout), Anthropic (optional AI assist), and Netlify/Formspree (forms). The Google tag on measured public pages may also make the denied-consent requests described above; local calculator inputs and document contents are not included in those requests.

4. Managing your choices

🍪

Rejecting analytics keeps GA4 analytics storage denied and prevents Clarity from loading. GA4 may still receive limited cookieless pings, but no raw calculator inputs, form values, document content, or URL query strings are included by this implementation.

5. Changes & contact

We may update this Cookie Policy as we add or remove services. Material changes will be noted here with a new date. Questions? Email privacy@afrotools.com or see the Privacy Policy.
