Fertilizer Use in Congo-Brazzaville

The Republic of Congo (Congo-Brazzaville) is a predominantly oil-producing economy where agriculture contributes less than 10% of GDP despite employing about 40% of the population. The country's tropical forest and savanna zones support cultivation of cassava, plantain, maize, groundnuts, and sugarcane. Fertilizer consumption is very low, estimated at under 10,000 tonnes annually, with most smallholder farmers using no mineral fertilizer.
